Swim Scheme (Friday Sport) Yr 3-6

Dear Parents / Caregivers, 

The Learn to Swim Program develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival.

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR ANY NON-SWIMMERS and/or students who cannot swim 25 metres confidently.

The program is conducted over thirteen Fridays in Terms 1 and 2 and each lesson goes for 45 minutes from 10.00-10.45am during our normal Friday sport time. Swimming lessons will be at Hurstville Aquatic Centre Swimming Pool and will be conducted by qualified BlueFit staff in a 25m indoor heated pool. Students will be walking to and from Hurstville Aquatic Centre. The cost for each lesson is subsidised to $9.15 per week. The cost of external swimming lessons are approximately $20 a lesson, the swimming scheme is value for money and is a great offer. A certificate will be awarded at the end of the 13 week program.

The scheme will run on Fridays for 12 weeks beginning Term 1 Week 5 (1st of March 2024) and concluding Term 2 Week 7 14th of June 2024). The total cost for the 12 week program is $118.80. There will be no refunds if your child is absent on any given Friday. There is no lesson on Good Friday (public holiday 29/3/2024) and this is not included in the cost.

As swimming lessons are at the start of the school day, students are asked to wear their swimming costume underneath their sports uniform.

Your child should bring: clean, dry underwear to change into after their lesson, a towel and a jumper on cooler days. A rash shirt can be worn (lycra rash shirts, nylon shorts or swimming costumes are the only attire to be worn in the pool). Burqini swimwear by Ahiida is appropriate.

Students are permitted to wear goggles (clearly marked with their name) for the lessons. If you would like your child to participate in this swimming program, please complete and sign the form below and return it to your child’s class teacher with $118.80 by Friday 23rd February, 2024.

Due to capped availability of 30 places in the swimming scheme, places will be given to the first 30 students who return their notes. Families will be emailed a link from BlueFit to complete prior to the swimming scheme starting.
