This topic has been integrated with other keylearning areas, in particular English in terms of reading a wide range of texts on these topics and as a stimulus for a variety of writing opportunities. For a hands-on learning experience,Kindergarten will be attending an excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm where they will participate in a guided tour of the farm. On this tour students will learn about:

● what is produced on a farm and how

● the needs of animals and plants and how they are met

● how farm animals and plants provide for people’s needs

There will be an opportunity to milk a cow, go on a tractor ride, visit the farmyard nursery for animal petting and engage in a sensory exploration in the permaculture garden. It will be anexciting day that will also include a stockwhip demonstration, sheep shearing show and talk and working dog show.

Visiting students will have the opportunity to:

• Observe ways in which living things are different and have different needs
